Teneo’s Brett Ayres Joins the Line Up at the 15th Annual ‘Securing the Law Firm’ Event

September 07, 2021

This year’s virtual Securing the Law Firm event, held on 16 September 2021, will welcome Teneo’s Services Director, Brett Ayres, as he lifts the lid on key challenges that legal IT security professionals face in the transition to the long-term Work From Anywhere (WFA) environment.

The event, organized by AJK Associates, is the UK’s premier legal sector cybersecurity summit and will welcome over 150 IT security and compliance stakeholders for a full day of online networking and presentations from key industry thought-leaders.

Brett’s presentation, titled ‘Security 2021: The Perfect Storm?’ will explore how security professionals can secure their digital assets and working practices as they seek to balance business, technical and human demands in today’s rapidly changing security landscape.

Key topics covered will include megatrends such as the increasingly sophisticated threat landscape, heightened digital business needs, widening attack surfaces, and the convergence of technologies such as SASE (Secure Access Service Edge), Zero Trust Network Access, SD-WAN, and Anywhere Operations. The presentation will also touch on Teneo’s recent research, which has uncovered that a worrying majority of IT teams are feeling overwhelmed, overworked, or frustrated by the challenges of moving to the long-term WFA environment.

Sharing real-life customer examples, Brett will also provide strategic insight on how progressive security professionals can remain secure affordably by making smart choices to save time and leverage existing resources.

Commenting, Brett said: “To ensure users are secure from wherever they’re accessing corporate resources and sensitive information, organizations must consider dynamic, software-defined, policy-based approaches such as Zero Trust and SASE.

“They need to develop a strategy that incorporates how they’ll deliver policy at the point of need, onboard new staff, handle BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), navigate user attitudes and behaviors, and ensure they have the security and performance insights needed to allow them to respond before their firm is impacted.

“Without addressing these challenges with urgency, law firms could risk their operational inefficiency, competitive advantage, and reputation.”

With over 15 years of experience managing network and security transformation projects, Brett has held a range of commercial and technical roles during his time at Teneo. He recently developed Teneo’s SD-WAN practice, securing Certified Delivery status and picking up a Technical Partner of the Year award. Now primarily responsible for service development, he is progressing Teneo’s SASE portfolio to enable businesses to embrace this new architecture and leverage the benefits of the WFA environment.
