The Future is Coding

This month we’ve been asking ourselves what skills will be required by the workforce of the future. As more automation is introduced to our daily lives, including robotics and artificial intelligence, surely it makes more sense for our children to skill up in supporting roles to those technologies rather than in roles that are likely to end up being replaced.

Enter Minecraft: Education Edition. A game that brings the classroom and curriculum to students in an environment they’re already comfortable with.

This genius idea, available to schools, libraries, museums, and participants in nationally recognized home-school organizations to purchase at $5 per user per year, offers the same Minecraft experience many young people enjoy already, but with some additional capabilities that enable them to collaborate in the classroom.

Minecraft: Education Edition comes with a brand-new Code Builder module, providing a warm welcome into the world of programming. Through Code Builder, students can connect to popular learn-to-code platforms and engage deeply with computer science concepts as they design and create.

Partnering with familiar learn-to-code platforms like ScratchX, Tynker, and a new open platform called Microsoft MakeCode, players can not only develop computational thinking but can also apply their creations across the Minecraft: Education Edition curriculum.
