The latest round of student desk-benches has just been delivered to the primary, lower secondary, and upper secondary schools in the Ifarantsa community by our dedicated education programme team. Until recently, education in Ifarantsa meant crowded classrooms, limited furniture, and young students learning while seated on bare floors. With just 58 usable desk-benches available for over 1,000 students, teachers had to make the difficult daily decision of who got a desk and who had to learn from the ground.

But that has now changed.

As part of Phase II of Project Fanaka, 228 brand-new desk-benches have been delivered, enough to fully furnish all 12 classrooms. For the first time, every student in Ifarantsa has a proper place to sit, write, and learn in comfort and dignity.

The evidence is clear: durable classroom furniture improves student motivation, concentration, and academic outcomes. It also helps boost enrolment and retention by creating a more inclusive and equitable learning environment.

This is more than just furniture. It’s a vital step toward a better education and a brighter future for every child in Ifarantsa.
