Network reliability & application performance

Digital businesses need reliable networks more than ever before. And with today’s hybrid cloud architectures, maintaining a high-performing network requires a broad view across IT domains. Users need applications that perform at all times, regardless of how they’re accessing the network. So it’s no longer enough for the network to just be ‘up’.

But most point network monitoring tools are unable to provide the breadth and depth needed to diagnose complex problems, and they don’t provide visibility into devices, or applications and their dependencies.

Monitoring tool proliferation

As a result, many organizations are suffering from tool proliferation from their attempts to piece together capabilities and gain a single source of truth.

Many tools have become ‘shelfware’, either because they’re no longer needed, have duplicate features, or the team doesn’t have the skillset to use them. Yet they’re still incurring costs.

Faster, application-aware problem solving

I&O teams today need a more proactive, holistic, and efficient approach to network performance monitoring and overall observability.

One that monitors performance not only of the network, but also how applications are performing across it, with an application-aware focus. And one that reduces complexity and prevents tool proliferation from getting in the way of faster problem solving. But with limited time and resources available, teams are still left challenged.

Take a different approach to Network Performance Monitoring

Forward-thinking Infrastructure & Operations leaders are taking a different approach to Network Performance Monitoring.

They’ve found a way to deliver rightsized monitoring capabilities, and the people and skillsets needed to better understand the impact of application-aware network performance on their critical business initiatives.

Customer Example

Global Manufacturing Firm

Teneo recently helped a global manufacturing firm to consolidate their Network Performance Monitoring toolset and optimize the end solution.

They had a large technology refresh approaching but were questioning the investment as they were suffering from limited staffing resources, with only a few engineers dedicated to its operation.

Feedback from their senior leadership was that the team needed more training and knowledge transfer. They were unsure if they should persist, and teach the team how to use the tools they already had, or instead consolidate and centralize them.

Teneo helped the firm to analyze their existing Network Performance Monitoring tools for feature overlap against the capabilities they required. Moving the focus from 12 tools to just 3, we were then able to recommend how the team could get the most value by targeting investment and increasing the use of underutilized capabilities from their existing monitoring tools.

This allowed them to drive efficiencies through a significantly reduced Network Performance Monitoring tool portfolio.
