The Riverbed Services Platform
The Riverbed Services Platform (RSP) provides customers with the capability to run up to five additional
services and applications virtually on VMware in a protected partition on the Steelhead appliance.
This revolutionary approach allows customers to deploy local services in all their branch offices without
the need to deploy and maintain full-blown servers to run the applications. Applications that can be run
on the RSP platform include:
Steelhead Mobile Controller - Virtual Edition
SMC-VE is a virtual package deployed on the Riverbed Services Platform (RSP), a virtualized platform that
resides on the Steelhead appliance that provides customers with the capability to run up to five additional
services and applications in a protected partition on the Steelhead appliance. By running SMC-VE within the
RSP, Riverbed offers enterprises the opportunity to obtain all of the same benefits of Steelhead Mobile
while eliminating the need to purchase additional hardware. Enterprises can purchase as few as 10 initial
Steelhead Mobile licenses, up to a total capacity of 100 licenses
Run Windows Server 2003 or 2008 for DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, print serving, or streaming media.
VPN-1 VE (Virtual Edition) protects your virtual systems with the same best-of-class security that you rely
on for your physical network. It enables you to segregate virtual systems from each other as well as from
external threats. VPN-1 VE extends your open choice to encompass Check Point appliances and software,
"Secured by Check Point" appliances, and virtual systems — all managed by a single interface to ensure
consistent, efficient security management.
Run ACE Live for application performance management including monitoring, measurement, and detection of
performance violations. Get complete visibility and reporting of all transactions and users, with detailed
real-time and historical information about end-user response times, utilization, route quality, and ISP
performance.
Run consolidated core network services – including DNS, DHCP, IPAM, RADIUS, TFTP and others – that are
critical to the operation of all IP-based networks.
