Teneo celebrates its first decade

Teneo, a leading infrastructure optimisation specialist, has celebrated its tenth birthday and looks back at ten years of growth and success as it plans for the next decade.

Teneo’s employees have celebrated ten years since the formation of the business on 17th February 2000. The company first started life as a subsidiary of a US company called Aspeon. Teneo’s CEO, Piers Carey, was then the vice president of sales for the original company and in 2001 the management team led by Piers, bought out Teneo from Aspeon with venture capital funding. In March 2003, Piers became CEO of Teneo and in June 2003, Teneo formed Teneo Inc, a subsidiary company in the US.

Teneo is focusing today on identifying new innovations for IT network management and optimisation, application performance and virtualisation offerings. It has a track record of building market share on both sides of the Atlantic for innovative vendors. Its integration skills are increasingly supported by a range of IT services and consultancy that it offers its growing end user base.

Teneo was Riverbed Technology’s first ever EMEA reseller and is one of a handful of Riverbed Diamond partners, winning numerous European reseller awards. It is a Platinum partner for security information and event management vendor NetForensics. The company is also master distributor in Europe and North America for Castle Rock network management software selling over 1000 solutions and is their current ‘Global Partner of the Year’. Teneo prides itself on maintaining strong relationships with a wide range of vendors such as Allot, Infoblox and Platespin.

Teneo now employs around 30 staff at its headquarters in Theale near Reading, and in Dulles, twenty miles west of Washington D.C. Its track record in delivering infrastructure optimisation solutions is enviable, with over 1000 customers including 200 Riverbed customers with over 1,500 deployed units in the field and under maintenance. It has a network of partners which enables Teneo to roll-out and service projects across 120 countries.

The company has grown substantially, increasing annual turnover from £4 million in 2007 to a predicted £12 million for the close of their financial year at the end of June. Teneo acquired network and security management reseller iSimile in July 2009, welcoming its highly experienced team and new vendor relationships to the Teneo group.

During February, the directors of the company took all employees out for a celebration meal, and on the actual birthday on 17th February, Teneo employees enjoyed a typical tenth birthday party with traditional party games, balloons and banners around the office and a birthday cake.
